Introducing the Blog for Grandma's Memoirs

While an invalid in my parents' home and then later at the home of my Uncle and Aunt, Warren and Elsie Bolender, my grandmother decided to write a book about all the experiences of her lifetime.  Grandpa Bolender also wrote a short excerpt about his early life which is included in the on-line book.  Grandma wrote all of it out by hand and it was later transcribed on a manual typewriter by others.  At one point all this was photocopied and several copies were distributed among the children and grandchildren.  I decided to recopy it again in electronic format and did some editorial changes where I thought appropriate without changing the story at all.

Many have already enjoyed this on line and I hope it will bring back fond memories for so many who knew my grandparents.  I also hope it will inspire others to find a deep abiding relationship with Jesus that my grandparents enjoyed all their lives.

I came to know the Bolander s at a very early age they were our pastors around for years I was saved in the issue church June 27 1966 the church later merged with the Wesleyan Methodist organization in 1968 becoming the Wesleyan Church we had to give up our complete name and the Wesleyan Church gave up the Methodist name and it then became just Wesleyan Church . I must add this personal note that growing up in this church what are some of the finest years in my life

My great grandfather was David Dillard Fortner, brother to Bertha. DD Fortner's daughter Daisy was my grandmother. I really enjoyed reading all of this material. I have started a family page on facebook and have photos of Bertha. My page is called My Family Tree With All The Twigs.

Karla, we knew DD so well (Uncle Dillard, to us). And we got to see your grandmother Daisy quite often, even visiting at her home a few times. We had great times together. I'm looking forward to browsing all the pictures you've uploaded to your web site.

I am just not finding your reply. I gave up on trying to use Twitter a while ago. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my page. I have added more information since we last spoke.

Daisy Fortner Walston is my Aunt. My mother is Inez Fortner Bartron Marker. I have been trying to get in contact with my cousins Bobby, Betty, or Bonnie. They disappeared after Daisy passed. I trust they are good.

Dan, great to year from you. Hope you find your cousins. They are distant cousins of mine as well, but didn't get to know them very well growing up. I only remember your Aunt Daisy and Uncle Bob.

Hello Clayton,
I think Aunt Daisy also had more children than Bobby, Bonnie, and Betty. I think there was a David and Ruth but I don't remember any more.
Are you related to Juanita and Victor Gibbs. I think Juanita was my Mother Inez' cousin.

Anita, I'd be interested to know some of the family tree on your branch. I think I met Myrtle (Aunt Myrtle to us) a couple of times.

Yes, Victor and Juanita were my parents.
Your Uncle Bob and Aunt Daisy did have more children. You can find his funeral record here: https://www.facebook.com/MyFamilyTreeWithAllTheTwigs/photos/pcb.1019383174846449/1019383154846451/?type=3&theater

Warning though, some of the information is inaccurate. For instance, his birth date is definitely wrong.
